Secret Shine in Germany

Secret Shine return from their US tour battered by the elements but warmed by great reviews and response to the new material
Our appearance at SXSW was a great success and it was cool to be a part of such an amazing and unique festival. I would heartily recommend any music fan head out for next year’s festival. For those not familiar – it’s like a big street festival where bands just spill out from every bar at whatever time of day or night, and that’s not to mention the parties and free booze.
Here’s what Pitchfork said about the show…
“Hey, it’s a Sarah Records band at SXSW! Bristol’s Secret Shine shared five releases via the quintessential twee imprint in the early 1990s before calling it a day some 10 years ago. Recently reactivated, the quintet has a new full-length (All of the Stars) on the way that sounds not the least bit unlike the unabashed shoegaze they were serving up a decade prior. Not surprisingly, then, Secret Shine were equally at ease showcasing the promising new material and treating the small but eager crowd to a few classics. With the glut of ramshackle, idiosyncrasy-flaunting indie acts popping up all over the damn place, I must admit I find this sort of polished, expansive headspace music refreshing.”
After SXSW we set off into the midwest for a 6-date tour with our clairecords label mates Tears Run Rings. Big hello and thanks to the TRR guys who made our tour such fun, super-rad! Thanks to everyone who turned out to see us, and sorry to those who probably couldn’t find the venues! Even our sat nav struggled at times! Anyway, we put our lives at risk through floods and blizzards to get to them but it was worth it!
Next outing for Secret Shine is the ’official’ UK album launch party at the Bristol Louisiana on Friday May 16th, with Sennen and The Fauns. More details nearer the time but put the date in your diary – it’s gonna be busy and we’re gonna be adorned in our best evening wear for this one.
Before that, Aspen Woods play their official album launch next Friday (4th April) at the Loui with the wonderful Kesey Experiment featuring Vincent Callan, one of Razorblade’s very own recording artists!
And after both of those shows, Secret Shine and Aspen Woods head out Germany for a short tour in June. We stop in Kiel, Berlin, Liepzig (tbc) and Hamburg. All of these gigs are listed on our myspace calendars and this website. Both bands will be promoting their new albums with a sprinkling of older songs swimming around I expect.
All of the Stars out 8th April, buy here or from www.tonevendor.com
